It’s no secret that Garrett Excavating loves to hire people who know about teamwork, and when it comes to teamwork, Garrett Excavating operator Troy Giovo is definitely a candidate for MVP. Troy joined the Garrett family last September, and his day to day responsibilities as a floater has him doing something different every day. Whether it’s loading trucks, moving big cut with the D11, putting in fill, or doing rough or fine grading, Troy’s never afraid to work alongside his teammates and get his hands dirty!
Troy originally hails from upstate New York, and moved to Arkansas in 2008 to play tight end for the University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevils. He’s happy to call Arkansas home, but that doesn’t stop him for continuing to root for the New York Giants and New York Yankees. After college, Troy worked six years for Southwestern Energy, a gas and oil company, when the oil field was booming.
At the end of each day of work, Troy goes home and works just as hard at his second career as husband to his wife Brittany, and father to his two year old son River and his one year old daughter Sterling. Raising his family keeps him busy, but he still manages to make some time for hunting, fishing, and bowfishing.
Troy has really enjoyed his time at Garrett, and looks forward to many happy years with the company. According to Troy “We’re all pretty much a family and we all look out for each other every day!”
Troy is a great example of the type of hard worker that you’ll find on every one of our job sites, and we’re proud to have him on the team.
